This was our first attempt to hold a futurity, and it was a great success with 68 entries. The judging criteria for a futurity are somewhat different than a typical ALSA halter class. The ALSA class is based 100% on conformation, whereas the futurity is 60% conformation, 20% marketability, and 20% fiber. Thus the placing of the same animals can be different in each of the 2 formats.

The goal of the futurity is to recognize the efforts of breeders to produce animals that meet the needs of all aspects of the llama market place. Both the Michigan Lama Association and the Llama Futurity Association recognize the importance of promoting the efforts of the llama breeders, and thus they agreed to be corporate sponsors of this event. We wish to thank them for this generous support as it would not have been possible to have the futurity without it.
